Saugatuck Artists Collective was opened in 2008 with one goal in mind: provide an outlet for Western Michigan artists and fine craftspeople to share their work. Since then the collection of work has evolved, but the variety of the work remains. All the artists are connected to the area, and much of the work involves images of the area, or materials from nature.
The artists' backgrounds are as varied as the work itself. Some have degrees in art or design, have taken classes at Oxbow, or have had training from specialized schools. Others are self taught, pursuing a passion for creativity on their own.
Visitors to the gallery will see a variety of mediums, including blown, fused, and stained glass, ceramics, fiber, ink, jewelry, paint, photography, polymer clay, and wood. The gallery is currently home to 40 artisans.
